“PLANT FOR PAKISTAN” DAY AT LOK VIRSA (SUNDAY, 18 AUGUST, 2019)

Lok Virsa لوک ورثہ – National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage, National History and Literary Heritage Division , took part in the #Plant4Pakistan campaign on Sunday, August 18, 2019. The “Plant for Pakistan” day is part of 5 years long flagship project to plant “10 billion trees” initiated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
In this regard, one hundred trees were planted in collaboration with Siraat-e-Naat Association, at Lok Virsa complex, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian.
These trees would add to the natural lushness of the complex and help preserve natural habitat of the Shakarparian National Park.
Mr. Nazir Ahmed, Deputy Secretary (Heritage Division) along with senior officials of Lok Virsa and representatives of the association took part in the tree plantation activity. A large number of people including youth were also present at the occasion.

Muzakra Presents: Indigenous Knowledge of Pakistan
Join us on Thursday, 19th July, at 3 pm at the Faiz Heritage Library, for Muzakra session on “Indigenous Knowledge of Pakistan”.
What is Indigenous knowledge and how does it bring to fore cultural traditions of our various communities particularly the agriculture dependent communities in Punjab. We will explore the answers to these questions with our expert speaker Dr. Abid Ghafoor, Chairman , Department of Anthropology, Arid Agriculture University. Dr. Ghafoor is the author of a doctoral thesis on the subject and teaches it in various universities across the country.
This muzakra will be in the Faiz Heritage Library. We look forward to see you on Thursday, 19th July, at 3 pm.
